# The Arrival of Savannah: Embracing the Unexpected Journey of Motherhood
December 11, 2014, marked the beginning of an extraordinary chapter in my life, the day my firstborn, Savannah, made her grand entrance into the world.
Our journey together began in the most dramatic way possible, amidst a swirling snowstorm, a day after her anticipated arrival. The due date, December 10th, came and went with no signs of her readiness to greet the world. Little did I know, the next day would push me through an emotional and physical marathon, culminating in 22 hours of labor before an emergency C-section was deemed necessary. That decision, fraught with its own fears and anticipations, was the pivotal moment leading to the birth of Savannah.
The lead-up to her birth was a whirlwind of emotions. As a first-time mom, the notion of parenthood was as daunting as it was exciting. The thought persisted, "If I'm still learning to take care of myself, how can I possibly take care of someone else?" This question played on a loop in my mind, amplifying my fears about the responsibilities that lay ahead. I was beyond scared, navigating through a mix of uncertainty and the overwhelming reality of imminent motherhood.
